Week In Review 12.06.05

Wow what a busy week. The big news is that Pace Media and it's assets including ADBumb, 925M, and New Media Report have been sold off. There is still some speculation as to who bought it and for how much, but all three industry newsletters are going to get shelved in January 2006. Look for a re-emergence under the new name Adotas.

I'm positive that this is just the beginning. Venture capital firms are taking a strong interest in our space and it seems like every quarter we hear about a new merger and acquisitions deal. As a result, firms (including Opt In Plus) have been working behind the scenes adding content, re-developing their business models, improving websites and scrambling to increase revenue as a means to look more attractive to potential partners.

Let's see what else is cooking.

  • Marsha Geller from Imedia (Yes, she's gorgeous in real life too. I Shook her hand at AD Tech.) reported that the Internet Advertising Bureau
announced that internet advertising revenues for the third quarter of 2005 totaled a record of $3.1 Billion.

  • The Q3 results represent a 33.9 percent increase over 2004 third-quarter total of $2.3 billion and a 4.7 percent increase over the 2005 second-quarter total of $2.9 billion.

  • She also included a number of other mouth watering statistics in her article here

  • Today ZEDO Inc. announced that it has developed and launched a new product they call "Performance Dashboards". These "Dashboards" allow marketers to summarize and chart ad delivery.

Some interesting news about Chuck Norris made it's way to my inbox.:

Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

If you ask Chuck Norris what time it is, he always says, "Two seconds till." After you ask, "Two seconds to what?" he roundhouse kicks you in the face.

A man once asked Chuck Norris if his real name is "Charles". Chuck Norris did not respond, he simply stared at him until he exploded.

Speculatively Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.
